We frequently use this feature in DBV batches. It is important for QA/QC processes for the reasons stated here by others. Other examples are if reviewing a batch before approving, we discover that a single gift entry in the batch should have been split into multiple gifts in accordance with our processes (employee payroll separated from employer match, for example), it is better for quality control to be able to insert a row below the original entry and adjust both the second and the original entry as needed.

This is important to us because there are times that I’m entering a batch and need to set a gift aside to get more information on it but I want to continue gift entry. Our gifts need entered in order for continuity.

My team imports 100's of gifts at a time. The gifts must appear order of scanned images from our Lockbox processor. Part of importing includes manually inserting gifts that can't be imported. The lack of ability to manually insert at any point in grid leaves a lot of room for entry error. It takes up a bunch of extra time when the entry person has to enter gifts out of order, and takes even more time for the person reviewing/committing to look at all the gifts out of order.

Dianna and Steven make great points - the backup is in a certain order and it takes more time to review if the gifts & backup are not in synch (especially for larger batches).

The insert function IS available in dbv and we use it often - pull a gift out because of questions and add it back in when a question is resolved, before the batch is committed.

This is another one of those functions that you take for granted - until it's not there...

Please please please add back the ability to either enter a row and move it up and down in the batch, or add a row in between gifts so we can keep the gifts in order.
