There seems to be no way to export the attempted amount when an automated recurring gifts fail. The only value than can be exported is $0.
It is saved somewhere, because it offers us the opportunity to reproccess the gift and it shows the amount but there is no way to query/export this.
The Recurring Gift Instalment Amount field that we used to use in query shows $0 when gifts have been automated. This information makes it impossible to calculate the realisation rate (amount received/amount attempted) from RE data, which is a KPI for our regular giving programme.
Not having being able to query/export the attempted amount also makes it more difficult to follow up failed gifts because it is not available for letters, emails or to give to our telefundraising agency when calling donors about their failed gift.
We also want to be able to report realised amount against attempted amount. The amount of the recurring gift may change over time as a donor upgrades or downgrades, so we want a snapshot of the gift amount at the time it was attempted without having to analyse amendment records. We have this for RGs processed via database, but not via webview because this field is $0.
Although we cannot yet processed direct debits via Blackbaud (I am in NZ) when we do we need to be able to show auditors the attempted amount as well as the final received amount because we need to match the amount to that received into our bank account. For DDs, at least in NZ, we receive the full amount into our bank account and then it is deducted from our account if it fails. Maybe this will be different when we process via Blackbaud.
