Soft credits are already clearly identified in the system with a # designation, so this flag could be used to automatically exclude those amounts from the deductible calculation. This would:
Prevent donor confusion when reconciling gifts for tax purposes
Ensure the deductible total reflects only gifts that are truly tax-deductible
Reduce follow-up questions and manual clarification from donors
Soft-credited gifts would still appear on the statement for acknowledgment purposes, but would not inflate the deductible amount shown.
