We have received a few complaints from married couples who are trying to donate using our online giving form advising that they aren't able to enter both of their names when donating.
E.G - John & Marie OR John and Marie etc - followed by shared last name.
We have also had some couples with different last names trying to donate with 2 first names in the first name field, and 2 last names in the surname field, who haven't been able to as well.
This is causing the system to not find duplicates and requires us to review and match.
Is this going to be remedied? If not, it needs to be. We have had several donors who have said they will stop giving if they aren't able to do this.
There is currently no plan for a remedy for this due to how RE/RENXT works with a gift only being tied to one donor. This change was made specifically to feedback that customers WERE getting multiple names in the first name/last field so additional validation was added to look for specific characters that would be used when multiple names are entered.
If you're using Standard Form, I recommend you include a text entry custom field for "Gift Acknowledgements" or "JI am making this gift jointly with" to give donors a specific place to outline this without affecting matching criteria.
I'll leave this open for voting for future reassessment.
