Additional criteria options beyond "Gift" when designing workflow

We have a membership base that is separate from donors and send out regular email communication about expiring and lapsed memberships - additional criteria options beyond "gift amount" for Workflow designer is needed.

    YES! We are trying to set up a welcome series for new volunteers, and I currently have to do this manually. There should be more than just a gift trigger.
