We have never used the Consent Tile before but after BBCON, I'm inspired to give it a try. But I've recently learned it is NOT actually synced with the Constituent's actual email setting. As in the Tile shows a person opted out, but their actual email is green and still active. We also have a Solicit Code set to DNE, but again, his email address is still active and accidentally got pulled into an NXT workflow. It should not be able to do that.
My feature request is that the Consent Tile be coded so it actually toggles the actual ability to send email automatically. In reverse, if a change it made on the actual Email Address tile, that change should be reflected in the Consent Tile history as well.
This whole system is a bit of a mess. The consent records are the most robust version of tracking this but they cannot be used as intended to directly filter email lists.
Solicit codes can be used to filter email lists and can be linked to consent changes with business rules but it creates a complicated system for getting the correct behavior.
Do Not Email and Request No email are automatically considered by the email marketing tool but CANNOT be tied to consent by business rules.
At the very least we need a way for RE to pull/recognize the most recent consent in each consent channel/category combination without needing to export the data and manipulate it elsewhere
Meredith is right: the four (plus?) places where this important data can live - the 'requests no email' box; the consent options; the box 'do not email' next to the email address itself; AND solicit codes - makes this very confusing and inevitably results in lost data.
This change makes sense.
