I am scheduling reports to entry/mid-level users (e.g. leaders, department heads) who have access to RE. When I schedule the report and they go to Analysis > Standard Reports > Scheduled > (click on report) it doesn't display the report results based upon my original criteria. It's now set-up with all of the report tabs (e.g. Criteria, Details, Filters, etc.) so to expect them to know what fields to change/update to the report results is not ideal. There isn't any value to this scheduling capability until more of this feature is fully-automated; they simply get the report > open it and review the results.
Can you share a bit more about it not displaying the original criteria? A schedule is associated with a given report. It simply causes the report to execute at a certain interval. The report parameters are not saved with the schedule itself as a snapshot. Whenever the schedule executes it retrieves the parameters from the saved report. If someone changes the parameters of that report, then those changes would affect the report when the schedule next executes. If no one should be changing the report, there is an option when saving "Others may modify this report" that could potentially be turned off. Other users would be able to see the report, but only the user who created it would be able to save changes. Another option that may help, if they only want the results, you can also "Share" the report on the Schedule with those specific users. When the schedule executes, it should then send them a notification and share the results so they can download the PDF or CSV without ever looking at the report.
I am currently using crystal reports to add to custom reports so that I can distribute reports monthly or weekly using queue. How will that affect me when we no longer have database view? It is important to know what the alternative would be in web view.
Candace, I also want to schedule reports like you. Could you please expand on your comment "it doesn't display the report results based upon my original criteria"? Thanks.
I vote yes
