When working in Query, the default category should be the one being worked in, not 'General'. If I'm working in a category called Events, I want all queries that I build to default to Events. This is not something we should have to select from a long list every single time. I can't tell you how many times I have built a list of queries in sequential order and realized, for example, that #4 was missing. I have never used the General folder and never will.
