Delete Custom Fields in Web View

At the moment the process to delete a defunct constituent custom field (or constituent attribute in dbview) includes the following:

  • Create a query with all constituents who are labelled with the field you want to delete

  • Go to Globally Change Records in dbview

  • Create a 'New Change' and delete the presence of this field using the query you made (you can do this globally without a query but in a database with several 1000s of constituents it will take literally hours)

  • Go to Settings/Custom Fields, click the '...' next to your chosen custom field and choose 'Delete'

Why can't we just click delete? I understand that the system won't let us because the field is in use, but can this not be bypassed with a pop up or something that asks 'Are you sure want to delete this Custom Field? It is currently used in XXXX number of constituents'.

It makes the long term use of RE very difficult because it is putting massive delays on the process of removing defunct fields/labels/etc.
