Introduce bulk grid editing for all record types

I saw this in a demo for another CRM and it looked so slick and useful. Like a more granular Global Change, but you get to see the selected records and selected fields in a big grid/spreadsheet that you can edit, either one by one right in the grid or change all the fields (like Global Change a field in Batch) and then commit the changes. Like an export/cleanup/import all in one tool. Take the fear out of Global Change; make bulk clean up easier, so that even my new data entry people could handle it.

I'm going to need tools like this before DB view Query access is removed from DB view. I use query to pop into records and make a few changes to handfuls of records all the time and I can navigate almost all changes with keyboard shortcuts. Web view record navigation is so cumbersome and requires too many clicks to accomplish these kinds of updates.

Wow! SO well stated. A spreadsheet would be amazing.

If that's asking too much, then figure out a way to allow us to make changes to records and open them to set tabs like we can in db view and quickly and efficiently make needed changes.

Yes! This reminds me of what we already do in Veracross. In Veracross, you can create a query, and then view the results. Then, while you're in the results page of the query, you can drag and release columns to change the order (same as what you can do in Google Sheets). In addition, there's a button at the top where you can select "Bulk Update". Then, you can select which column data you would like to update, and then you enter the data that you would like to update it to. It's so easy.

I think this kind of thing could be super helpful too when you're trying to do something like changing a bunch of Query categories at once during cleanups instead of having to do them individually. We have a bunch of queries with this being the case, and while NXT now has a "delete multiple queries" function, being able to do a grid edit like this could be super helpful and make cleaning and managing our database super helpful.

This would be great for less advanced users who might not be up to a full global change yet, allowing them to see the data all in front of them, but not having to navigate in and out of multiple profiles (something that that has become more difficult with webview, as profiles now involve scrolling through for "pages" of data).

Having multiple fields available to edit in one place would be a game changer for "dialing in" on data cleanup as well, rather than the typical usage of using a query, then navigating from query to said profile.
