In order for dupes to not be created for an honoree you have to go into the honoree record and add a tribute type for it to match on when an honor/memorial donation is made. If tribute type is not added it will create dupes of the honoree. This is crazy because we won't know it's a tribute until someone makes an honor/memorial donation for that individual. We need a way to bypass this.
Does not look like WV searches for the honoree's possible record match. We have several people who are regular honorees, so we normally have a tribute open for them (that is successfully used in dbv, during gift batching). However for any NXT donations, it looks like a duplicate record is created for each gift. When doing our annual report lists, it's taking extra time to consolidate all the tributes to the honoree's original record before we run the Tribute report. Then I have to delete these extra records (regularly) OR be asked why someone has multiple records (which one do they use for research)?
Also, I still don't think you can 'fix' the honoree in the NXT gift batch - we've been doing it in dbv AFTER the batch is approved. It's a lot of extra steps - especially when you have newer staff learning all of the nuances...
Are you using the Online Data Review or automatic matching for your online donations?
If you're using Online Data Review, you have the opportunity to review and match tribute records before new honoree/acknowledgee records are created.
