When sorting date fields in lists, we are almost always looking for an newest-to-oldest sort. The first click on the column heading, however, always produces an "oldest-to-newest" sort, requiring a second click.  Given that the second click must wait for the first to complete (which could be a considerable delay on a long list with a slower internet connection), it would seem to make sense to reverse this order.
