Please add the Gift reference field as soon as possible. I used this field when reconciling credit cards. It helps me tremendously to streamline this process.

The gift reference field located on the Gift tab of a record in database view is mapped to the comment field in web view. It is one of those fields that was renamed early in the transition. It does exist today and it will show up in the header of the gift record.
We use this to track basic gift information such as if part of a largest gift, non-tribute memorial gifts. Besides this being necessary to track new gifts, we need the historical information it contains. This information has to come over to NXT.
