Improve translation and formatting in Gift Receipting (PDF & Email)

The current Gift Receipting module in Raiser's Edge NXT is not usable for organizations with French Canadian donors, due to incomplete translations and lack of formatting options. As a result, we cannot use NXT receipting at all and are forced to rely entirely on the manual process in Database View using Merge Receipts.

Current Limitations :

  • PDF and email receipts are only partially translated

  • Gift amounts are formatted in US style (e.g., $0.00) with no option to switch to 0,00 $

  • Gift types (e.g. "Pledge", "One-time gift") and statuses (e.g., “Issued”, “Duplicate”) are not translatable

  • The download receipt link text is not customizable

  • There is no way to generate fully translated and formatted receipts in NXT, making the feature unusable for bilingual or French-only donor bases

Requested Enhancements :

  1. Ensure full translation of all receipt elements in NXT

  2. Allow formatting of gift amounts to match regional standards

  3. Enable translation of gift types and statuses (e.g., “Issued” → Émis, “Duplicate” → Duplicata)

  4. Allow customization of the download receipt link text

  5. Provide a way to generate fully translated and formatted receipts directly in NXT, without relying on Database View

This is a key feature. Without it, we cannot use this feature for our French-Canadian donors. For example, as a charity located in Quebec, our donors expect to receive fully french information, and they will decline to donate if they do not receive a full-french form.

Even in the US version, the receipts appear out of order, and the lack of customizability means that we cannot use them and have to rely on multiple mail merge templates in Database view. With the potential sunset of database view, there is no feasible option for sending our donors sensible and personalized receipts with a highly manual process. Best practice says anyone mailing a gift should receive a physical mailed receipt, so relying on digital emailed receipts is not a good option for our donors who prefer mail or are of an advanced age. I appreciate your willingness to explore more options for PDF receipts to streamline the receipting process.
