Ability to Change Gift Type

Please add the ability to change a gift's Gift Type once it's in Raiser's Edge either in NXT or Database View. There's too much room for error to have to delete or zero out a gift and then add a new one with the correct Gift Type. Some systems we have integrated with RE only allow certain gift types and they don't work with the tax receipts issued by NXT.

Agree. I have a staff member who selected the wrong gift type and didn't realize it until after they saved the gift. Now it can't be changed in NXT. I can't change it in Database view since the gift was added through NXT.

I've also noticed that not all gifts offer a adjustment as well. I also agree with having to zero out a gift then adding a new one. It effects the data and numbers when pulling reports.

Since we are all human and apt to make mistakes, this would be a great change. Or give us the ability to delete more gift categories since it's very limited in NXT what gift categories can be deleted. Zeroing out and reentering doesn't work well for future records!

Thank you, Debby, for bringing this to the idea bank. We have many events that have a non-charitable component - some where all the money received is non-charitable. For these items to not be pulled into our campaign counting dashboard, we have to manually adjust these to $0, and enter a new gift - citing Other as the gift type, and Non-Charitable for the sub-type. Make it happen Blackbaud, please 🤨

Agree, this should at least be available through a gift adjustment/amendment.

(Of course, having some options to limit certain campaigns/funds to specific gift types or allowing security roles that default or limit certain users to specific gift types could also eliminate some of the errors in gift entry if for some reason allowing gift type changes is impossible.)
