To have the Dashboard Appeal Performance match the db view Analytical Reports > Appeal Analysis with Gift Types. In db view you can check off whether to see pledge balance and count them in the Campaign, Fund and Appeal but in NXT this option is not available. Therefore your numbers are off when trying to use this tile in NXT.
