If someone has been a recurring donor for years, it's tedious to click through gifts to finally find the initial 'gift entry' where recurring gift details need to be edited. Further, why is 'recurring gift' a gift type? It shows up in many reports, and unfortunately filtering it out from a query sometimes also removes all 'recurring gift-payment' gift types as well (even when those are explicitly left in). It would be far more convenient for the donor's recurring gift to have a separate (and easily accessible) place on their constituent record to update recurring gift details.
I would actually hate this, to be honest.
I review a lot of software as part of my job, and find it much more complicated when I see similar functionality in other places. For example, a Pledge is on one tab and payments are on another tab. I have found that a lot of clients are confused and don't like it either, but am willing to accept that it might be because we're used to it being a gift. But I still think it would cause even more confusion overall.
