Soft Credit for Opportunities

For the same reasons it is necessary to be able to soft credit Gift records, there needs to be a way to have an Opportunity reflect in multiple Constituent records.

My organization does not want to input duplicate or shadow Opportunities in our constituents' records. However, we also don't want to miss key gift conversation information if we're looking at a constituent's page.

Having a field where we can input if that particular Opportunity is related to any other constituents would solve this.

Would love to hear thoughts.

Yes, this is sorely needed. In our organization with about a dozen fundraisers, it's not uncommon for relationships to develop between two fundraisers and two different contacts for a specific company. (Especially a large one with major grant funding as well as office-specific giving funds, like an insurance firm or a bank.) If the opportunity or actions are connected with a specific contact, the other fundraiser might never know that there is something in the works, and they might need to revise their strategy or pull back for now. For the most part, we try to put opportunities on the org record, but we have a lot of locally large companies that are family-owned so we might be talking to the primary owner and their cousin on a personal level, only for them to decide to make the gift from the company, and then we have to also move the opportunity over. Much less complicated to just share the opportunity across the records.
