Reference displayable on gift lists

When entering a gift on the web view, under payment method when you select "Other" you can input a custom reference and date. I use this when entering a gift not included on the given payment methods, such as venmo or paypal. For example if entering a gift for our Fun Run, under reference I put "Boosterthon" because that is the site donations are received through. We receive one check from Boosterthon, but I enter each gift to them manually so we can track who supports this fundraiser. I would like to be able to clearly see on my gift reports a "reference" column so that we can see how those gifts came in beyond "Web CC" - this is so my finance director can see what gifts/how many are coming in through other third party vendors such as GiveCampus, Boosterthon and Auctria. When I include the "reference" on my query on the database view, it pulls it as the comment I put on the gift, which is not helpful because it very clearly means one thing on one version than it does on another, but on the Web view, I cannot even include "Reference" when I run a list, so, what is the point of offering the option to input it?

If reference is a criteria you can include while entering in a gift, it should be able to be shown on a query or a gift list correctly, otherwise it is wasted.

For example : I entered 250+ gifts manually from a fundraiser. For each one, under the payment method I put "other" and under reference I put "Boosterthon" because that is how they paid. In the comment of each gift I put "Donation to student's name Fun Run" when I created the query, under reference it included what I put in the comment section. This does not allow my finance person to see HOW EXACTLY that money came in and from where. This is important so that we can determine if our totals line up with our deposits.
