have preferred name default to first name if

have preferred name default to first name if preferred name field is blank in consituent record

In the email tool, if you wish to use preferred names as a merge field, and a constituent has no info in that field, the end result is a blank space in the email. Could this default to first name, or alternatively, default to Dear Friend?
