We use Gift ID to import transaction codes/confirmation codes from external sources, such as Luminate online or BBMS. This enables audits between the two systems to ensure that all data has been transferred into RE, and also excludes the possibility of duplicates. Not being able to manually override the Gift ID or write to it via import has huge implications for our data audit processes.
