The new set of Portal tasks was added to Tools. There are now 5 different sets of tasks in Tools. This makes it increasingly difficult to design roles that "right size" the permissions we would like to grant users. When assigning roles to users, there is only one role that can be assigned per area. Ideally, we could have many roles under Tools and assign a user more than one of these roles so permissions could be more granular and we could build out permissions by stacking multiple roles on top of one another. I'm not sure what else will be rolled out under Tools in the future, so this could be an increasingly larger issue. I don't think this was thought out well and is counter to the ERP system I also manage.
