More robust event registration options for splitting registrations into multiple funds AND allowing them to send to a batch Merged

Would love to see the ability to split registrations into multiple funds (to manage events where a portion of the registration is donation, and another portion is non-donation). This could also be solved by allowing the registrations to go to a batch and then be approved so they can be opened in database view where we can split them. The Net Community event registrations are cumbersome to set up and outdated. Let's get the NXT to a place where it can be used instead!

    Ah, ok. This makes sense, thank you for the additional detail! I'm going to merge this idea with an existing one to this effect so we can combine votes.

    I can confirm for you that the NXT event registration form 120% DOES send the registration payments to a batch. It does not direct write any gifts. It does directly create the event participants, which may have been where our support analyst got confused.

    I apologize for the confusion! I will be following up with the support analyst to make sure we clear that up.

    Hi Samantha,

    We do events like lunches and golf tournaments where a portion of the ticket cannot be counted as a charitable deduction for taxes, but a portion of the ticket can. We build the registration amounts to split gift amount and receipt amount on the back end. We then count the non-deductible portion towards one fund and the deductible portion to another and accounting splits and routes them appropriately.


    Yesterday in a chat session (case 018718017) I was told that the registrations DO NOT go to batch:

    ( 7m 10s ) Visitor: Is there a way to send them to a batch so that the transaction can be split. Example: registrations where a portion of the registration is not deductible?

    ( 7m 30s ) BXXXXXX - Blackbaud Support: There is not unfortunately. NXT Events do not use the batches.


    From what I can tell when playing with the NXT form, the registration cost can only attribute to one fund and doesn't allow for beneift counting to be reduced out of the registration in the same way the database set up allows. In NetCommunity we get around this by sending the registrations to batch and then splitting and adding benefits in the batch in database view. If the events DO go to batch in NXT, this would clearly solve my hesitance to use NXT events.

    Thanks for your idea and enthusiasm!

    Can you give me an example of the fees you may have setup for an event and desired fund setup? Would you want to specify a fund per fee, or do you need to setup a fund for the non-taxable portion of the fee that is the same for any fee selected for the event?

    Also, I did want to mention that NXT online registration payments DO write to gift batches in NXT, where you can add splits before approving - or as you mentioned, once they're approved you could perform the split in database view.
