It help us know what constiuent they were when they gave versus what constituent code they are now. (i.e. a current parent gifts a gift, then later becomes a past parent. It's important to know if they only ever gave as a current parent). Or if someone gave as a trustee versus as a past grandparent later in years. Their record consituency will change, ebb and flow over years. Their constituency at the moment they gave an individual gift, will never change.
