Filter Constituent Codes by Date

When using filters on constituent codes, we need to be able to filter by start and end dates. We use end date (blank) to tell us when board members and staff and other groups are current or former.

    Admin response

You can filter by the dates for constituent codes and decide whether you are looking at primary or not. You can also add combo filters to look for different groups of constituent code criteria. Check it out in filters under "Constituent Basics" and select "Constituent Codes"

Adding an end date (or "to" date") to a constituent code, or any other code, should definitely trigger a kind of archival action where they no longer show up on queries or lists for that code unless specifically searched for.

For example: If I want a list of Current Parents for my school, the list should not include those with an end date on their "Current Parent" constituency code unless I search to include those with an end date in general or specific or in a range.

They way it is now leads to too many opportunities for inaccurate lists.

The admin response is not sufficient. For one, it references a knowledgebase article but doesn't link it. Mostly, it doesn't address the issue of being able to filter for constituent code with no end date, only those who are active in "period." This means the overlap between those who have had the constituent code a long time but are still active in it, versus those who are no longer active in that code, is unaddressed

I was asked to create a list for newly hired faculty and staff, so that our annual giving director can identify new employees to discuss our FS campaign. Now I see I can't filter the list for "constituency code start date this month". This would be very helpful. I'll have to build the list in DB view.

You can filter on 'as of' with the constituency codes in NXT, but the 'as of' field is functioning as a 'this is the code on this particular date' instead of a 'starts on this date' like the constituency code 'from' field in database view.  You really need to give more flexibility on the operator.

Or even just an "active" button, so that it works like the filters in Mail, etc. I'm kind of embarrassed for Blackbaud that this hasn't been added yet.

Yes please! We are new to NXT this week and the first list I tried was Current Student - and it pulled alums because they have the constituency Current Student with dates from/to already populated.

Not being able to filter by from/to dates this means I still have to pull queries and create excel lists of our current board members for my director and CEO. It would help me (and them!) hugely, if this was implemented. Thanks!

It was recommended by a well-known independent consultant for The Raiser's Edge that we get rid of our constituency codes for "Formers" (former board members, faculty/staff, former parents) and instead, use end dates for constituency codes. Six months later, we migrated to NXT and now our fundraisers on the go cannot pull an accurate list. Please implement this idea!

Pretty please! Without being able to use end dates in the web view, we have to go into the database view to get what we need. Our fundraisers often need to work with these type lists (Board Directors, Major Donors, Volunteers, etc.) and requires unnecessary extra steps to pull them right now.

Yes, yes, yes! I can't pull something as simple as my recent board members without some date criteria!

yes, please! We use this in the same way and the filters are useless to me if it pulls from the beginning of time.
