We need to be able to allow a LOT of different people ot mark attendance for events, but we don't want the same number of people to be able to edit the event or participant records in general. partly it's a quality control thing, partly a security/confidentiality issue, especially if we're asking folks who don't otherwise have database permissions to assist with check-in.

I guess what we hope for is a version of the Events Registrants list that works strictly as a checklist, so we don't have to copy it out to an Excel file.
