NXT looks so nice and crisp compared to the database view. It would be great to have an option to print out a constituent's giving history in an aesthetically pleasing format. For example: First gift date, largest gift, latest gift, total giving history. Basically any option other than a screen shot.
There's an add-in that does exactly this on the Blackbaud Marketplace: Constituent Profile Reports for Raiser's Edge NXT: https://app.blackbaud.com/marketplace/applications/9e9cf3c0-d35b-4253-b579-c09db423b62c
I recently took a look at the Portal self-service features which included an on-demand giving history. It occurrened to me that it would help if there was an option to produce a year-end tax statement view.
The amount of arguments this would solve in our office is astronomical! It allows us to keep security and integrity top of mind while still giving our MGOs the resources they need to fundraise.
I'm not a huge fan of this idea, but I can see its purpose. If you implement this, PLEASE include the date that the profile (or whatever) was printed. Far too often I've seen gift officers want this information and then use it for months. Things are outdated at almost the moment they are printed, so at least include the date.
And please get A LOT of user feedback on what to include and how it can be configured. Many organizations "teach to the test" - they manage their data so that it fits within the confines of a report or profile, instead of how the database was designed to work. Pay attention to what the users actually want, and delay rolling this out until it works well.
Agree. I'd like to see the ability to create & share a pdf that is comparable, but even better than the Constituent Profile report in the database view.
Agreed.
True enough, many of our officers are 50+ years old and find NXT cumbersome. They prefer printed. Also, often in capital campaigns, we may involve volunteers who should not have access to NXT and only need one person's record. At the very least, the ability to easily email a dashboard of the constituent record (what you see when you open the constituent in NXT) would be very helpful.
I can provide an example from another database that worked REALLY well for us. They called it a "360 Report".
I had a gift officer today say that they want to be able to "give" the giving record to the donor when meeting with them. Our organization does not grant database view to gift officers. Giving them the ability to print a giving record from the web view would be helpful.
Our board members request annual giving history reports. I'd like to not only be able to print but also sort and organize the gifts either by fund or campaign or both.
Yes please! My CEO and several other large donors would like to view their giving history and Excel is just not a nice way to present that information. thx!
I agree with this request and would love to be able to print, even from the browser, without the href link showing up on the printout.
Other scenarios:
- this would be a huge help for my golf committee members, so I can give them hard copies to work with (we currently have a huge query we have to whittle down so it will fit on a legal sheet)
- would also love for our Foundation Board; would like to be able to save as a PDF as Kate mentioned below, to be able to email out w/ board packets before meetings so the board could see the actions that fellow members have taken with prospects
- I, personally, prefer to work from a hard copy when making calls so I can make notes easily and then type my notes later
Reiterating what others have said- board members are not going to be NXT users. It would be extremely useful to be able to customize what sections are included on this printable (PDF) constituent profile. Being able to include or exclude: address, phones, emails, notes, relationships, giving history etc....
Our major gift officers want lists to be printed so they can take them with them on trips ect. You have to keep clicking see more to get a complete list. You can't see all the gifts in 1 page either. The sorting abilities are limited. It would be nice to be able to export so they can tweek things in any order they want.
Other scenarios:
Our major gift officers would like printed copies to travel with them to read on planes, etc. In this portable, high tech digital world, there are still many people who prefer printed documents in some scenarios.

Thanks for your suggestion! We don't currently have plans to dedicate a lot of time to "printing" scenarios. The hope was that the portability and sharability of NXT would make printing things like this a thing of the past. I am more than happy to hear more about the specific scenarios that absolutely require a physically printed report though.
Yes, please create the ability to print the entire contents of what is viewable from NXT.
