If a user unsubscribes their preferred email address via NXT Email Marketing the opt out consent that is added to records has a blank category field by default with no way to change. If you run reports or have queries that use consent category this may be an issue. Users may assume blank category is generic and add for non NXT transactions. Online Express has a category associated with these unsubs/consents that needs mapped to solicit codes. In NXT you need to map the blank category. Seems inconsistent.
I have found that there is a workaround that allows a URL link to display all consent categories an organization sets up for themselves (Think Content) and allows a constituent to click onthe button for the URL and state for whatever categories are shown if they would like to opt in (yes) or opt out (no)
The issue with it, is this is a workaround I st up using the functionality in Events. Using this functionality has some downsides:
The labeling of some fields leads to confusion
A constituent has to enter the number "1" at the beginning of the form.
It seems to require a Country, but allows only the United States - (This can be bypassed, but doing so is not intuitive since it is bolded in red--will be looking for a separate idea bank item to address this issue)
Confirmation does not present Constituent with the elections they made and gives an event date and states "We look forward to seeing you there".
I would like to see these issue addressed so this workaround functionality can be utilized.
Note the functionality is very much like what exists on the doation form designer, but does not require a constituent to make a donation in order to access the ability to update their subscription choices.
It would be best if NXT and Online express emails simply matched the NC consent options. Allowing opt in and opt out of the specific email type and/or all emails. It would involve some joined up working by the various Balckbaud factions...
