As a consultant, I work with a lot of organizations and schools. 3 times--I'm not exaggerating--in as many weeks working with schools this summer I have been told that they can't use the "canned" db view report for Parent Participation by class because it counts each parent couple while the new standards that schools follow is: If a student is the child of divorced parents, if either parent couple give that is counted as 100% participation for the student. That is, the parent participation report is really done by student, not by parent (they admitted, to make their percentages higher, but if everyone is now doing it, it should at least be an option). To be clear: If student Becky's mom and dad divorce, mom gives and dad does not, that should count as 100% parent participation for this student. Each student should be contributing either a 0% or a 100%--never a 50%--to the overall parent participation per class. I know it sounds weird and not right, but again, 3 out of 3 schools have told me they do this--they count by giving per student, not giving per actual parent constituent couple. At least offer it as an option if you want to meet these schools' needs so they can use the canned report.
Great idea! Thanks, Bill!!
