We're Women's Lunch Place, a Boston nonprofit. We embed Raiser's Edge NXT forms on our website and measure them in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) through Google Tag Manager (GTM).
What works today: on donor-forms, RE NXT lets us add our GTM container, so every completed gift shows up in GA4 along with the email, social post or ad that brought the donor in.
What doesn't: we use registration forms for event tickets and sponsorships, and they have no equivalent. Blackbaud Support confirmed on case 021069978 that:
1. Registration forms do not support adding a GTM container the way donor-forms do.
2. There is no documented signal (such as a postMessage) sent from the embedded registration form to the parent page when someone completes a registration.
Because the form runs in an iframe on a Blackbaud domain, our own website can't see what happens inside it. With neither option available, completed registrations are invisible to GA4. We can't tell which campaigns sell tickets and sponsorships, and event revenue in GA4 never matches what RE NXT records.
What we're asking for (either one solves it):
1. Add the same GTM container setting donor-forms have to registration forms.
2. Or have the registration form send a documented postMessage to the parent page on successful completion, for example an event named "registration_complete" with the form ID, total amount and a confirmation/transaction ID. No personal data is needed. This option would also help organizations that use analytics tools other than GTM.
Why it matters: events are a major fundraising channel for nonprofits, and knowing which outreach drives registrations is how small teams decide where to spend limited marketing time and budget. Right now we can measure that for donations but not for events.
Related: the existing idea "Google Analytics Tracking (Tag Manager)" (RENXT-I-10254) covers donor-forms only. Blackbaud Support suggested filing this as a separate idea for registration/event forms.
