Ability to define custom fields

I have attributes that are for administrative purposes and some that are informational about the constituent.  It would be nice to be able to define attributes that you can show or supress in the work center.  It could be a check box in config next to active.  Show in work center.

I was coming out to see if there was an idea already to sort custom fields. I think I like this one better!

My idea was to allow users to sort on something other than the custom field date. We could code our administrative attributes  on the database view to fall at the end of the alphabet.

Thanks to the guest that suggested this!

I was going to add this very idea today! We have so many attributes that are not relevant to fundraisers and light users, would love to be able to hide them.  Examples would be deceased screening details, Research Point IDs, custom modeling scores.  Thanks!

Our organization also has a lot of inactive attributes that I would like to suppress under the show fields button in the web view. In addition, we also have a few active attributes that are used for database management but are not helpful for solicitors that manage portfolios. I agree with the others it would be great to have both (1) the ability to treat inactive attributes the same way as they are treated under the filter button in the web view (visible only if the inactive attribute button is checked but otherwise suppressed) and (2) the ability to suppress certain select active attributes both under the show fields button and the filter button in the web view.

Yes, it would be ideal to have the option to hide attributes for some users or security groups.

This would be great!  I use Attributes a lot for my own work, but no one else really needs to see them.  We also have a lot that are "inactive" (i.e. old and need to be removed altogether or moved to a more appropriate place) and it would be nice to hide those, as well.

Jarod,  I would like to be able to choose certain attributes and supress them from appearing on the NXT custom filed panel.  I can see a table option in Attributes with a check box, that would give the option of displaying on NXT or not.   Some are administrative and some are development related.  The custom panel can quickly get cluttered with attributes that assist in reporting, but don't further define the prospect.

Thanks for posting this idea! One clarification question, are you just asking for the ability to add and edit custom fields in NXT web view? Or are you asking for a new flavor of custom fields (administrative vs informational) that doesn't exist in database view?
