Current issue: The “Date last changed” field for phone numbers and email addresses updates whenever any part of the entry is edited, including the phone type, formatting, or comments. As a result, the date does not reliably indicate when the phone number or email address was originally added to the constituent record.

Example: I recently removed the “1-” prefix from several phone numbers. Although the underlying numbers did not change, the “Date last changed” value updated to the current date. This permanently removed the only available indication of when each number was originally added and made older entries appear new.

Requested enhancement: During a recent Blackbaud product update meeting, it was mentioned that “Date last changed” will be made available in NXT web view. I would like this enhancement to go one step further by adding a separate “Date added” column for each phone number and email address. This system-generated date should reflect when the entry was originally added and remain unchanged. “Date last changed” could continue to show the most recent edit, while “Date added” would preserve the entry’s original history. Preserving the original date added would allow users to determine the age of contact information, identify which of several phone numbers or email addresses is newer, and make more informed data-cleanup decisions without losing important historical context.
