Edit specific gift details AFTER it's been posted to ledger or tax/Gift Aid has been claimed

We would like the ability to edit a Gift's Fund and Appeal/Package, possibly also Campaign and Canvasser, even after tax (Gift Aid) has been claimed. For us the Ledger entries aren't important but I know some other clients will use this area carefully too.

The reason for asking for this change is that we occasionally need to change some of these details retrospectively. Even if we delay claiming the tax, it still happens sometimes - but importantly, changing these details (Fund/Appeal/Package/Campaign/Canvasser) is not relevant to our Gift Aid claim.

If this was possible in a normal Gift Adjustment, it would be fine. However, at present, in order to change any of these details on a gift with tax claimed, it is necessary to:

  1. Adjust Tax Claim and choose the option 'no replacement gift' - essentially 'pretending' to refund the donor

  2. Create a new gift with the corrected details - and eventually it's own new tax claim

  3. Process the tax claim refund on next Gift Aid claim - ideally noticing that the gift 'refunded' in 1 is also 'claimed' in 2 - the value of each is net-equal (+/-£0) and checking this is clear.

The important point to note is that sending this information in our tax claim is unnecessary data, being sent to a government department! The department doesn't care what we raised the money for, how we raised it or how we're accounting for it internally: they only care if it's been claimed correctly (and that the Gift Aid is used in line with donors' wishes or as we have told them we will).

I know that some funds/appeals etc can be set as 'not eligible' for Gift Aid - I'm sure this can be taken into consideration when choosing the new one.
