I did have an open idea before about this that was marked as shipped but I suspect the shipped part is only about appeal and campaign attributes/custom fields because while I put package in the title, I didn't actually put it in the main text and package custom fields have not arrived in web view as yet after the idea was marked as shipped in June.

Package attributes are vital for us, particularly as we have two organisations operating in the same database. One way we use these is to help generate the list of in honour celebrants for publication in our magazine - we use one package attribute to indicate which organisation the donations were received for (so they can go in the right section) and one to format the name of the celebrant or celebrants exactly how it should appear on the page. Before we started using package attributes, this task used to take a week or so of work on and off around our regular tasks but now the page can be generated (including double checking that we notified celebrants they would be on the page and that no one has passed away) in a couple of hours.

I'm sure other organisations have other great uses for package custom fields!
