We have a need for a Joint Formal Salutation type which displays both spouses' Titles and Last Names separately (e.g., Dr. Hudgins and Ms. Bione). One reason is that for couples with differing last names, there is no pre-set Salutation which allows us to address them formally by each of their last names, together. But even for couples with the same name, we still wish to address them both individually rather than with only one first name showing. Even in traditional couples where 'Mr. and Mrs. Richard Smith' would be acceptable, our Head of Household procedures put the person with the closest relationship to our institution first (rather than by gender or other considerations), so we would end up with 'Mrs. and Mr. Janet Smith'. We would prefer the option to have 'Mrs. Janet Smith & Mr. Richard Smith' in these instances. We currently modify these manually.
