Have the option to apply a gift towards an automated recurring payment.

Our situation is such that many of our members utilize recurring payments. There are occasions when (for whatever reason) they need to skip a recurring payment because they wish to pay for it another time. Unfortunately, when this happens, we have no way of applying this one-time gift payment to an existing automated recurring payment setup.

    This is a feature that is very needed. Sometimes the credit card does not go through and when the donor calls to provide the new information we are not able to collect the payment for the month that was skipped, thus losing that donation. We also have donors that send a check or cash for that missed payment but we are not able to apply the gift towards the recurring pledge. Although pledges would be a way around it, recurring gifts do not have an end date and are important for continuity and donor retention. Please allow payments to be applied to recurring gifts.
