I'd like to suggest having a separate Gift ID for the segments of a split gift.
If we receive a gift of $1,000 and it is split where $750 goes to one Fund and the other $250 goes to a different fund, it still groups them together when running a query and shows the total amount of $1,000 for both Funds. It would be nice if a split gift was given a separate designation on the Gift ID for each part of the split. It would make sense to keep the same primary Gift ID, but adding a unique identifier like a letter at the end for each split would be helpful when viewing gift reports.
For example, using a Gift ID of 914219A for the $750 portion and 914219B for the $250 portion. This could allow them to be seen as separate lines with the correct amounts in data output for reports/queries.
In addition to this, we would like the ability to split the gift on different lines and not use the built in split gift function. In database view our practice was to enter a split gift on different lines and then we avoided this issue where "If I have one gift that is split between Fund A for $2500 and Fund B for $5000, the export specifically pulling only gifts to Fund B will have a total of $7500 instead of $5000. It pulls in the total amount of the gift instead of the split amount."
Please let us split gifts on different lines so that each gift has its own gift ID and the correct amount for each fund is shown when querying and exporting.
If there is a way for this to happen where it shows the correct amount for each split of the gift in data output and I'm just missing it, I'd love for someone to help guide me to see it this way.
