Currently, the system prevents users from entering a committee role start date that falls in the future, displaying an error that the "start date can't be in the future." This also applies to the end date feature as well.
While we understand this validation may be intended to prevent data-entry errors (e.g., entering an incorrect year), it creates inefficiencies for Trustee management and year-end transition planning.
Benefits:
Reduces manual tracking and duplicate work outside of BBCRM.
Supports accurate trustee succession and committee planning.
Allows proactive data management while maintaining appropriate validation controls.
Creates a more user-friendly experience for governance-related data entry.
Proposed Solution:
Modify the existing start date validation rule to allow future-dated start dates, while continuing to prevent dates that are clearly entered in error.
This enhancement would better align BBCRM functionality with trustee governance workflows and annual board transition processes.
