We have the ability to include custom field questions on online forms (constituent forms, online donation forms, registration forms) so donors can provide us with updated information but this information overwrites existing information without any context on the constituent record. Custom fields are updated but have no date. We have no idea if the custom field is outdated or recent, nor if it was added by a staff member or by the constituent.
When a donor submits this information from a form, the system should pass through the date and the constituent form's name into the custom field's comments AND admins should be able to view and search on these properties as an audit trail/part of regular data maintenance.
Including the date of the custom field change (at minimum) and which online form was used to update it would allow us to query on recent updates, if needed, and act upon it if it affects other processes like communications.
(This is also related to other ideas about passing through a date on solicit codes that are updated based on consent business rules)
The date should also populate for the Consent fields so we can track when a constituent opted in or opted out of a particular consent category.
